What’s included

Coached by a college coach

Michael is assistant men's golf coach at the University of San Francisco, and coached at Archbishop Riordan High School for two years.

From first swing to tournament prep

Complete beginners, school-team hopefuls and competitive juniors each get a session pitched at their level.

Indoors on TrackMan

Lessons run in the TrackMan bays inside the Lincoln Park clubhouse, so fog and rain don't cancel them.

Clubs to borrow

Michael keeps clubs and balls for lessons. Tell him your child's age and height when you get in touch and he'll say what to bring.

Junior Golf Lessons in San Francisco

Michael is assistant men's golf coach at the University of San Francisco and spent two years coaching at Archbishop Riordan High School, so he knows what the next level asks of a young player, and how to get a beginner there without rushing it. Sessions are structured so juniors actually improve rather than being kept busy for an hour.

Kids who are new to golf start the way adults do: grip, setup and making contact, before the full swing. Most junior lessons run on TrackMan inside the Lincoln Park clubhouse, where a young player can see on a screen what the ball just did, and the course and putting green are right outside when it's time to play. Michael keeps clubs and balls to borrow, so ask before you buy anything.

Juniors who already compete get something different: the swing on video and TrackMan, short-game and on-course work, and a clear plan for what to practise between sessions. Michael holds Titleist Performance Institute certification at levels 1, 2 and 3, so changes are built around how a young player's body actually moves.

Questions

Junior lessons: common questions

What age do you take junior golfers from?
Michael teaches juniors across a wide age range, from children picking up a club for the first time through to high-school and college-level players preparing for competition. Get in touch with your child's age and experience and he'll suggest the right starting point.
Does my child need their own clubs?
Not to start. Michael keeps clubs and balls to borrow, so hold off buying a set until you know your child enjoys the game. Mention their age and height when you get in touch and he'll tell you what to bring.
Are junior lessons one-on-one or in a group?
Both work. One-on-one moves fastest, and a small group of juniors at a similar level costs less per player and is often more fun. Tell Michael which you'd prefer.
Where can a junior golfer get proper coaching without joining a country club?
Lincoln Park is a public course, so there is no membership involved. Junior lessons are booked directly with Michael, and the TrackMan bays, the course and the putting green are all open to the public.
How much do junior golf lessons cost?
Junior rates depend on the number of players and the format, so they're quoted rather than fixed. Send a message with your child's age and experience and Michael will come back with a price.
